The Eleventh Annual Conference on Business & Ethics (CBE) featured Pat Haden, USC Athletic Director and former USC and LA Rams quarterback, and Richard Riordan, former Mayor of Los Angeles and founder of the UCLA Richard Riordan Programs.

This year’s Bishop's Award for Exemplary Business Integrity was presented to Rick Muth and Rob Neal for their commitment to ethical best practices in their business and personal lives. Reverend Robert H. and Arvella Schuller were also recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Farmers & Merchants Bank. The Bishop's Award for Exemplary Business Integrity has formerly been given to 20 honorees who met, if not exceeded, the requisite criterion.

While the purpose of the Conference on Business & Ethics is to provide an annual forum for business leaders in Orange County, the Conference also raises funds to provide tuition assistance for Catholic school students in the Diocese of Orange. Through the past ten years, the Conference on Business and Ethics has raised more than $1,000,000 to support tuition assistance grants for our Catholic schools.

A Case for Catholic Education

There is a great deal of information in support of Catholic education. The January 2012 edition of the Orange County Catholic featured an article by Greg Dhuyvetter, the Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Orange entitled “The Case for Catholic Education”. The LMU Center for Catholic Education published study outlined the impact that Catholic schools are making…not simply for the Catholic community but for the common good of all society.
